The Island La Palma
On about 730 square kilometres the island offers many scenes of natural beauty, vegetation and climate. The equable climate of La Palma offers vacations at any time of the year; of course the Canarian Islands are well known for the sunshine and pleasant warm weather in winter but the advantage of La Palma is that as well in midsummer the temperatures are pleasant. The high temperatures of the Mediterranean which makes people inactive, sunbath and swim only are not applicable to La Palma. As well in midsummer you can take a walk, make excursions or travel by foot.
The National Park Caldera de Taburiente with a wide forest and many plants dominates the Northern Part of the Island. With its diameter of 10 kilometres it has the greatest crater so far known; surrounded by a mountain chain up to 2400 metres which externally – wrinkled by deep ravines – called Barancos- steep to the sea. This mountain chain follows- leading to the south- another wooded mounting chain of about 1800 metres and about 24 kilometres length. The Cumbre Nueva and the Cumbre Vieja divide the southern part of La Palma in the more or less steep and raining east-side with the marvellous capital Santa Cruz de La Palma and its airport and the smoothly down going west-side with sunshine, the fruitful productive Aridane Valley, the access to Caldera and the 3 most beautiful fine lava beaches (=playas) of the island as well to the FINCA LA BREVERA.
